Vapour Blast

Unlike traditional dry blasting, vapour blasting is virtually dust-free, making it ideal for maintaining a pristine workshop environment.

Vapour blasting is surface preparation by means of water, compressed air and abrasive, with the water vapour being a propellant for the abrasive and for dust suppression. This type of surface preparation provides both cleanliness and profile in one go. As such it can be used for both new-building and maintenance projects. The vapour blast unit also has the capability to remove salts and surface contaminants through the addition Corr-Ze 100. Corr-Ze 100 Additive

Corr-Ze™ is a superior surface treatment and unique cleaning process that prepares substrates for protective coating applications. Corr-Ze™ removes the non-visible causes of coating failures and prevents corrosion even in the most corrosive environments.

This additive will reduce rework, eliminate time constraints, allow for greater control and flexibility in project management, greatly reduce downtime and provide superior surface preparation.

  • Adhesion tests have been conducted by 4 major oil companies and 4 coating companies.
  • Results showed excellent pull strength on surfaces, ranging from 1000-3200 psi. Breaks were cohesion only.
  • A recent pull test performed on a platform treated with Corr-Ze™ in the Gulf of Mexico showed 1200 and 1600 psi 5 years later.
  • Results showed lower pre-coat surface conductivity and higher post-aging tensile strength adhesion.

This additive is added to the water container on the Vapour Blast Unit at a rate of 1:100. When the water vapour is used to carry the grit to the nozzle for blasting, it also carries the Corr-Ze additive.

Corr-Ze is not an inhibitor, this product fully evaporates and does not leave anything on the substrate.  It falls directly under SSPC – SP1 for prewashing or post washing work to clean the surface of contaminants. There are no Oily amines” in the formula. This product uses DMEA as the amine instead of TEA, which is an oilier amine. DMEA is more of an evaporative amine.
